Africa Peace Forum (APFO) is an independent non-governmental organization based in Nairobi, Kenya with an overall objective to contribute to the prevention, resolution and effective management of conflict by engaging state and non-state actors in developing collaborative approaches towards lasting peace and enhanced human security in the Greater Horn of Africa and beyond. APF O facilitates research and advocacy on areas of peace and security at national, regional and international level. This primarily includes Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Rwanda, Somali, Sudan Tanzania and Uganda. APFO’s work has, however, in the past sometimes extended beyond this to Mozambique and South Africa. APFO supports peace initiatives and has a vision toward sustainable peace and human security in Africa. Africa Peace Forum has served as the National Research Institute (NRI) for the IGAD Conflict Early Warning and Early Response Mechanism (CEWARN), as well as a resource partner for various national, regional, international organizations and governments in research, training, capacity building and advocacy in areas of Conflict early warning and response, small arms and light weapons control, conflict prevention, mitigation and resolution, good governance, democracy, development and security.
